Andy Parkin

Head of Jersey Software Development

What I do at JT

I have been with JT since July 2000, but in my current role since September 2019.

My role is twofold as I manage the day to day Jersey software development team and our 3rd parties; to ensure delivery of our software to customer quality expectations. I also act as the Software Delivery engagement partner for the wider business, assisting analysis and design for new requirements, shaping delivery across our 3 primary delivery teams in Jersey, Copenhagen and Melbourne.

Why JT

JT offers its people huge opportunities for personal growth and career development, I confirm from my experiences! There is such a broad range of so many types of roles, so even if you’re not sure what you’d like to do in the future, or even which direction you’d like to take, join us and see where JT takes you. Fundamentally, people at JT are like family and it’s a fun place to work.

Who am I?

I was born and educated in Jersey and started my working career in JT’s finance team, with a focus on IT systems as part of a UK degree course. Post obtaining my Business Information Systems degree I came back to JT in 2000 to join the IT team.

Over the course of 10 years I performed various roles in IT Operations, at network, sysadmin, DBA and software levels, then shifted to focus more on analysis and design of JT’s IT systems. I moved into the IT Applications manger role in 2005 and then into IT Design manager focusing on new systems and integrations in 2011.

Over the next 10 years I then jumped into a number of other opportunities aligned to some of our major programmes; from 2012 I was heavily involved in JTs flagship Gigabit programme, acting in a programme CIO capacity over 3 years to ensure design and delivery of digitisation and automation roadmaps - enabling the success of the programme. Then in 2015 I spent 6 months as a Programme manager for one of our large US based customers; migrating to a JT provided phone system across 85 sites in North America. At the end of 2015 I returned to the IT team in the Head of IT role.

In line with our growth strategy, by 2019 the size and complexities of JT’s software products and development teams had grown significantly, so since Sept 2019 I have been focused primarily on this in my current role.
